Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs: Thanksgiving Behind Bars

Sean 'Diddy' Combs: Thanksgiving Behind Bars

Sean “Diddy” Combs won’t miss out on Thanksgiving turkey this year, although his celebration will look a bit different.

The “It’s All About the Benjamins” rapper, who recently turned 55 behind bars, is marking his first Thanksgiving in federal prison after facing charges related to extortion, sex trafficking, and other offenses.

Thanksgiving Meal at MDC

According to a representative from the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, where Combs has been held since September following multiple denied bail requests, the artist will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday, November 28.

At 11 a.m., Combs and his fellow inmates will be served:

  • Roasted turkey or spicy tofu (their choice)
  • Mashed potatoes
  • Mixed vegetables
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Turkey gravy
  • Two dinner rolls with margarine
  • Holiday desserts

Later, for dinner at 4 p.m., the menu includes:

  • Chicken breast sandwich or chicken pea patty sandwich
  • Steamed rice
  • Pinto beans
  • Corn

Additional snacks include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with chips.

Prison Activities During Thanksgiving

Beyond the special meal, MDC offers recreational activities to mark the holiday. These include:

  • Card games (Spades)
  • Dominoes
  • Three-on-three basketball
  • A football tournament

“These tournaments are open to all of our residents,” an MDC spokesperson confirmed.

Combs resides in 4 North, a dormitory unit with about 20 inmates and more relaxed rules compared to the general population. This unit features amenities like:

  • Air hockey
  • Television
  • Video games

Communication with Female Inmates

Interestingly, Combs still has contact with female inmates. According to Gene Borrello, a former mafia associate familiar with the facility, one of the rooms in 4 North has bars with small holes that allow male inmates to communicate and even see women housed on the floor below.

Recent Controversies

Combs recently celebrated his birthday on November 4 with a modest prison meal and a phone call from his seven children. This call, shared online, drew criticism from prosecutors, who accused him of obstructing justice. They allege that Combs instructed his children to launch a social media campaign to sway public opinion and the jury’s emotions.

Prosecutors argue Combs should remain detained before his trial on charges of:

  • Racketeering conspiracy
  • Sex trafficking
  • Transportation for prostitution

They claim he poses a flight risk due to his vast resources and a public safety threat based on his alleged history of violence and attempts to contact witnesses or victims.

Trial Date Set

Combs, who has pleaded not guilty, faces trial for sex trafficking charges on May 5, 2025. His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, stated that Combs’ biggest complaint about prison life has been the food.

“Food is probably the hardest part,” Agnifilo remarked in October.

As Combs prepares for a challenging Thanksgiving behind bars, his story serves as a stark contrast to the lavish celebrations he once enjoyed.
