Kodak Black Clears the Air on Conversion Rumors: “I’m a Hebrew Israelite”

Kodak Black has officially shut down swirling rumors that he has converted to Islam. The Florida rapper took to social media to clarify his religious beliefs and set the record straight, reaffirming his identity as a Hebrew Israelite while calling out the blogs and fans for spreading misinformation.

Addressing the Buzz

The speculation started earlier this week when photos of Kodak sitting on a prayer mat in what appeared to be a mosque began circulating online. Fans were quick to assume the rapper had embraced Islam. However, Kodak explained the images were taken at the request of celebrity dentist “Bollywood” Saif Shere and were not indicative of a spiritual shift.

“No disrespect to the Muslim community, but I am a Hebrew Israelite,” Kodak wrote. “I feel very disrespected by the blogs and by [Shere] for letting them run with a story that I converted to Islam!! He simply asked me to personally take a picture on his prayer mat.”

Clarifying His Beliefs

Kodak didn’t stop there. In a video shared online, the “Super Gremlin” rapper further elaborated on his stance, dismissing the rumors with a candid explanation.

“I’ve always said I like the literature, but I’m not Muslim,” Kodak stated. “A lot of Black dudes do that, just turn Muslim out of nowhere. No disrespect to Muslims or any other religion… I can’t tell you that you’re wrong for being Christian. I can’t tell you that you’re wrong for being Muslim. But you can’t tell me I’m wrong for being a Hebrew Israelite.”

Kodak also expressed frustration at how the photos were misconstrued. “I don’t get why that post went viral. All people saw was me bowing on a prayer mat,” he said.

Pushing Back Against Criticism

Kodak didn’t hold back when addressing the backlash from fans. He criticized those who used snippets of the photos to stir unnecessary drama, claiming they were deliberately trying to make him look bad.

“I never said I was Muslim,” Kodak emphasized. “Some people just post certain little pictures… to make a Black man look crazy.”

Predicting the Narrative Shift

Kodak’s response to the rumors comes at a time when he has been vocal about feeling alienated by parts of the hip-hop community. Recently, the rapper expressed concerns that the industry might turn against him, much like the backlash faced by Drake during his feud with Kendrick Lamar.

“Someday, these dudes are gonna try to do me like they did Drake,” Kodak said during an Instagram Live session earlier this week. “Like they did with Drake. The whole hate Kodak campaign. All the Kodak haters on one side. You see these dudes campaigning and stuff like that.”

Despite this, Kodak remains unfazed, confident in his individuality. “But it’s all love. They show it like, I’m impactful. I’m a great friend, and I’m not friendly.”

A Reminder to Fans

While Kodak’s words were a sharp rebuttal to the conversion rumors, they also served as a reminder of his unwavering confidence in who he is. Love him or hate him, Kodak continues to be a defining figure in today’s hip-hop landscape—unapologetic, unfiltered, and always ready to challenge the narrative.

So, no, Kodak hasn’t converted to Islam, but he’s made it clear he respects all beliefs. And if there’s one thing fans should take away from this, it’s that Kodak Black is going to keep doing things his way.
