Young Thug Drops Fiery Diss Track Aimed at Gunna
Young Thug is back in the studio, making waves with what many call a direct diss toward Gunna. On January 2, 2025, the Atlanta rapper teased two snippets of unreleased tracks on Instagram, and one of them sparked intense speculation.
The second snippet features a scathing line: “Never f* with a rat / Go get some money, get a pack,”** which fans believe is a pointed jab at Gunna, once a close collaborator and protégé of Thug.

The Backstory: A Friendship Turned Sour
Both Young Thug (real name Jeffery Williams Jr.) and Gunna were arrested in the YSL RICO case in 2021. While Thug remained behind bars until his release in late 2024, Gunna took an Alford plea in 2022, sparking public whispers that he might have cooperated with authorities—a move that could be perceived as “snitching” in the rap community.
Since then, their relationship has appeared strained. In a now-deleted tweet from 2024, Thug seemed to address Gunna directly: “Gunna, don’t act like we friends on the internet anymore. I don’t know you, bro.”

This tweet only fueled rumours of a rift between the two. Gunna, for his part, attempted to quell the backlash with his single “Bread & Butter,” denying allegations of betrayal: “Never made a statement or agreed to take a stance for ’em.”
Lil Baby Joins the Drama
Adding to the tension, Lil Baby, another Atlanta rapper and close ally of Thug, seemingly distanced himself from Gunna. During a 2023 concert, Baby instructed the DJ to cut “Drip Too Hard,” his 2018 collaboration with Gunna, from the setlist—a move that fans interpreted as a public declaration of loyalty to Thug.
Lil Baby and Thug continue to collaborate. One of the teased snippets from Thug’s Instagram features “Dum, Dumb and Dumber”, a track from Baby’s latest album “WHAM.” Baby later confirmed that Thug would appear on the deluxe version of the album, writing on his Instagram Story: “[Thug], relax, bro. Deluxe drops Tuesday. It’ll be on there.”
Gunna’s Career Moves
Despite the ongoing drama, Gunna is forging ahead. He recently performed for the first time in Nigeria at the Flytime Festival, where he brought out South African star Tyla to perform their 2024 hit “Jump.” This international appearance signals Gunna’s determination to expand his audience and rise above the controversy.

Tensions Continue to Boil
Young Thug’s recent diss has reignited speculation about the fallout between the former friends. With the upcoming release of the deluxe “WHAM” album, fans eagerly await whether the contentious snippet will make it to the final cut—and whether Thug will address Gunna more directly.
Adding another layer of tension, Yak Gotti, a YSL member still awaiting trial in the RICO case, was reportedly stabbed in jail. This grim development underscores the lingering fallout from the YSL case, which remains one of the longest criminal trials in Georgia’s history.

While Young Thug and Gunna once represented the pinnacle of Atlanta’s rap scene, their falling out reflects the deep scars the YSL RICO case left. As the drama continues to unfold, one thing is clear: the music—and the feud—aren’t ending anytime soon.
What’s next for Thug, Gunna, and YSL? Fans will have to wait and see.
