Taylor Swift’s Journey: From Eagles Superfan to Chiefs Kingdom VIP
As Taylor Swift prepares to cheer on Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs in their third consecutive Super Bowl, fans can’t help but recall her past allegiance to the Philadelphia Eagles.
From Bleeding Green to Chiefs Red
Before Taylor Swift declared that “Karma is the guy on the Chiefs”, she was a devoted fan of Philly’s beloved team.
Hailing from Reading, Pennsylvania, just an hour outside of Philadelphia, Swift grew up surrounded by the Eagles’ fandom. Even after relocating to Nashville at the age of 13, she maintained a deep-rooted connection to her hometown team.
Her love for Philadelphia has made its way into her music, most notably in the song “gold rush” from evermore, where she sings: “I see me padding ‘cross your wooden floors / With my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door.”
Upon the song’s release, fans debated whether she was referencing the NFL team or the legendary rock band, The Eagles. However, Swift put the speculation to rest during her Eras Tour stop in Philadelphia in 2023, saying: “I did see the debate about how a lyric that says ‘with my Eagles T-shirt hanging from the door’… I love the band The Eagles, but guys, come on. I’m from Philly. Of course, it’s the team.”
A Shift in Loyalty – Love Wins Over Team Allegiance
Just a month after her Eras Tour stop in Philly, Swift was seen sporting an Eagles cap and sweatshirt while heading to Electric Lady Studios in New York City—a strong statement of loyalty to her hometown team.
However, everything changed in September 2023, when her relationship with Travis Kelce became public. Since then, Swift has been a regular fixture at Chiefs games, donning red and gold in support of her NFL star boyfriend.
Even her father, Scott Swift, who once proudly cheered for the Eagles, seems to be switching sides. When asked about his fandom before last year’s Super Bowl, he cleverly dodged the question, saying: “I’m a football fan—of all teams. But hey, Andy Reid used to coach the Eagles.”
This year, though, it seems Travis Kelce is confident where Taylor’s loyalties lie. When asked about her support ahead of Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs’ tight end stated: “She’ll be all for the Chiefs this time for sure.”
As for Scott Swift? Kelce admitted: “I’ll have to ask Scott himself. We haven’t had that conversation yet, but I think he’ll be wearing red.”
Taylor Swift’s Game Day Evolution
While her football allegiance may have shifted, there’s no doubt that Taylor Swift has embraced her VIP status in Chiefs Kingdom. From attending games in custom Chiefs jackets to celebrating Travis Kelce’s victories, she has fully immersed herself in Kansas City’s winning culture.
With Super Bowl LIX just around the corner, all eyes will be on Swift and Kelce, as they continue to dominate both the sports and entertainment worlds.
One thing’s for sure—while her love for the Eagles may have been strong, her support for Travis Kelce and the Chiefs is burning red.
