Nvidia CEO Joins Forces with Asia’s Richest Billionaire to Establish AI Super Data Center
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is embarking on an ambitious partnership with billionaire Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, to enhance AI infrastructure in India. This collaboration presents a significant opportunity for the country as it positions itself in the global AI race.
A Groundbreaking Collaboration
On October 24, at Nvidia’s AI summit in Mumbai, Huang and Ambani unveiled plans to construct a 1-gigawatt data center in Gujarat. This facility will be one of the first to utilize Nvidia’s cutting-edge Blackwell chips, marking a pivotal step in advancing AI capabilities in the world’s most populous country.
In addition to this landmark project, Nvidia is expanding its partnerships with major Indian corporations such as Infosys and Tata Consultancy Services. Furthermore, international clients like Amazon Web Services (AWS) are expected to start deploying the Blackwell chip next year, amplifying its impact across various sectors.
India: A Hotspot for AI Development
With a population exceeding 1.4 billion, India is rapidly emerging as a focal point in the global AI landscape. Industries ranging from agriculture to education and manufacturing are increasingly adopting AI technologies to enhance efficiency and productivity. According to CEO Jensen Huang, “India exported software in the past, and in the future, this country will export AI.” This vision underscores India’s potential as a leader in the AI sector.
However, Nvidia has acknowledged challenges in the production of its Blackwell chips, admitting that the manufacturing process has proven more complex than anticipated. To address this, the company is working on improving production capabilities. Nvidia is also collaborating with Tech Mahindra to develop a Hindi language model and partnering with Flipkart to enhance AI-driven customer service systems.

After meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the US, Huang dubbed this period the “Indian Era,” highlighting the significance of India’s role in Nvidia’s strategic vision.

To catalyze progress, the Indian government has allocated $1.2 billion for the IndiaAI Mission, aimed at establishing data centers and commercializing AI technologies.
