Is Drake Petty? Chris Blake Griffith’s Alleged Messages
Chris Blake Griffith recently took to Instagram to share screenshots that he claims are direct messages between him and Drake. Drake discusses his legal dispute with Universal Music Group (UMG) in these messages.
Accusations of False Promotion by UMG and Spotify
Prior to this, in a pre-litigation filing submitted in November, Griffith accused UMG and Spotify of “falsely promoting” the hit diss track “Not Like Us” by Kendrick Lamar. One alleged message reads:
“Me and Universal are like Nike sponsoring a campaign about LeBron cheating on his wife. Not Adidas or Reebok… Nike is the company he’s been with from the start. My situation is no joke.”
DJ Akademiks’ Clarification
However, when these screenshots went viral, DJ Akademiks quickly went on X to clarify. He claimed the messages are fake and that he could confirm this directly with Drake.
Charlamagne Tha God on Drake’s “Fighting Irish” Freestyle
These alleged messages surfaced just days after Drake released his “Fighting Irish” freestyle, reportedly aimed at James. In a recent episode of the Brilliant Idiots podcast with Andrew Schulz, Charlamagne Tha God weighed in on the matter, suggesting the Toronto rapper may have “crossed the line,” even if LeBron has turned his back on him during the feud with Kendrick Lamar.
Charlamagne’s Critique: Petty Feuds and Public Image
“It’s weird to diss someone but have their jersey tattooed on your arm,” Charlamagne commented. He noted that although the music itself is an improvement over what he’s heard in recent months, the message is still off-base.
“It only adds to the narrative that ‘you’re a fool’ and a sore loser,” he continued. “You do this and say ‘Hey, don’t make me ruin your public image.’ Then mention LeBron cheating on his wife in DMs, then attack Akademiks saying it’s all fake, then come back saying ‘I’ve changed my mind’? Why are you being so petty, man?”
