Gwen Stefani Reveals Early Days of Dating Blake Shelton

In a recent interview, Gwen Stefani reminisced about her early days of dating Blake Shelton. The 48-year-old pop star met Shelton in 2015 while both were serving as coaches on the popular TV show The Voice.

Hesitation to Start a New Relationship

Stefani opened up to People magazine on Monday, November 25, sharing how she was hesitant to start another relationship at that time, especially after just divorcing her ex-husband Gavin Rossdale. “We had just met, and everything was chaotic. Our lives were completely chaotic, everywhere. Nothing could save us at that point. There was a moment where I thought, ‘I can’t even talk to him. This is crazy. I already have enough problems. This is not going to happen. We won’t text or do anything,'” she recalled.

Blake Shelton Wins Her Over Through Music

However, Blake Shelton, the country music star, managed to win her over in the best way possible – through music. Stefani shared that Shelton wanted to impress her by tapping into something she loved dearly. “I think he really wanted to impress me because he didn’t write as many songs as he used to. And I love writing songs. That’s everything to me. If I want to feel any sense of purpose or value, it’s to write a song,” Stefani explained.

Collaborating on Their First Song Together

At the time, Shelton was working on a song called “Go Ahead and Break My Heart,” a duet he would later release with Stefani in 2016. Stefani revealed that Shelton sent her the song, which was only half-written, and asked her to help him finish it. “He sent it to me, and it was a song that was only halfway written. He said, ‘Help me finish this.’ So I wrote back to him with the second verse of the song, and it was just a text,” she explained. “That was the first song we wrote together. We hadn’t even been in the same room, but we wrote a song for each other,” she added.
