“GBP” – The Highly Anticipated Collaboration Between Central Cee and 21 Savage
The long-awaited first collaboration between Central Cee and 21 Savage, titled “GBP” (short for the British Pound), officially dropped on streaming platforms at midnight on Friday, January 17. To celebrate this special moment, the two London-born artists treated fans to a striking music video directed by Cole Bennett.
The Story Behind the Lyrics and Visuals
In the track, Central Cee raps:
“If I lived in Harlem, I’d be Mitch, those guys would be Ace and snitchin’/ If in Oakland, I’d be a pimp.”
He further references the legendary drug lord Frank Lucas:
“If I was in North Carolina in 1930, I’d be Frank with the mink.”
The music video prominently features red tones from the British flag. Viewers see Central Cee waving a BRIT Awards trophy on CCTV footage, sitting in the backseat of a Pontiac, and eating donuts in a parking lot.
Central Cee showcases his British flair in the chorus:
“We don’t have generational wealth, just a few million for my unborn child/ If I pay a man a hundred grand pounds, I can get someone dropped in front of the crowd.”
21 Savage then takes over with razor-sharp bars:
“That’s GBP, price go up if it’s USD/ Better watch your words, I’ll get you X’d for the s*** you tweet.”
Central Cee: A Rising Superstar
In recent years, Central Cee has solidified his status as a bona fide superstar both domestically and internationally. In 2024, he collaborated with J. Cole and Bas on “HYB” (Hide Your B**ch), followed by the TikTok viral hit “BAND4BAND” featuring Lil Baby in May. Toward the end of the year, he joined forces with Ice Spice for “Did It First” from her debut album, Y2K!
21 Savage: Continuing to Dominate
Although 2025 has just begun, “GBP” marks 21 Savage’s second appearance of the year. Earlier this month, he lent his skills to Lil Baby’s standout track “Outfit” from the album WHAM.
“GBP” not only highlights the dynamic collaboration between two major artists but also promises to be one of the most talked-about tracks of 2025.
