50 Cent’s latest venture into HollywoodDen of Thieves 2, has stormed its way to the top of the box office, proving to be a massive commercial hit. This time, however, 50 Cent steps behind the scenes, leaving the spotlight to returning stars O’Shea Jackson Jr. and Gerard Butler. The rapper-turned-mogul celebrated the movie’s success on Instagram, writing: “Go check out Den of Thieves 2 🎥. #1 in theaters to start 2025!”

A Call for 50 Cent to Host the Emmys?

The excitement doesn’t stop there. Earlier this month, comedian DeRay Davis publicly pitched the idea of 50 Cent hosting the upcoming Emmy Awards. In an interview, Davis said, “This might sound crazy—but I think 50 Cent should host the Emmys. He’s hilarious… and deserves it. Why not?”

True to form, 50 didn’t miss a beat, enthusiastically responding on Instagram: “@deraydavis this made my day. 2025 is the year. Say no to what exactly?”

Though he’s never hosted an award show before, 50 Cent is no stranger to commanding an audience. With a storied career spanning music, film, and television, he recently wrapped up his first-ever Las Vegas concert residency—a feat that was met with both applause and sharp criticism.

Mixed Reviews for Vegas Residency

While his six-show stint at Planet Hollywood’s PH Live drew fans from far and wide, not everyone was impressed. Blogger Star Fish, known for her sharp takes on Sin City’s entertainment scene, delivered a scathing critique on Instagram.

“I’ve seen 50 Cent perform in Memphis warehouses decades ago, and it was magical. His Vegas residency was the opposite,” she wrote.
“The sound was poorly balanced, making it impossible to enjoy the performance. His hype men were intrusive, overshadowing his vocals. The stage design looked like it was thrown together in 15 minutes with a ChatGPT prompt for ‘90s hip-hop visuals.’”

Fish also called out the lack of crowd engagement, claiming fans began chanting for an encore just 63 minutes into the show. She alleged that 50 Cent returned to perform for a mere 15 minutes before abruptly exiting without so much as a “thank you.”

50 Cent Fires Back

Never one to shy away from a feud, 50 Cent addressed the criticism head-on, comparing his style to that of artists like Usher and Chris Brown.

“They’re saying the sound was bad,” he remarked with a smirk during his final Vegas performance.
“Man, you gotta say something like, ‘50 was out there doing his thing’ [waves dramatically]. Don’t blame the music. Forget that nonsense.”

He added with his trademark humor, “What, you think I’m gonna go out here and skate like Usher? Chris Brown’s out there flying in Africa. I don’t have a single clause in my contract saying I need to fly anywhere.”

The Bigger Picture

Despite polarizing opinions, 50 Cent continues to solidify his place as a multi-hyphenate force in entertainment. With Den of Thieves 2 breaking records, a potential Emmy-hosting gig on the horizon, and a proven ability to keep his name trending, 2025 is already shaping up to be another milestone year for the rapper-actor-producer extraordinaire.

As he put it himself: “What a way to kick off the year.”
