ToggleAngelina Jolie Reveals Feeling “Her Light Had Dimmed”
Angelina Jolie recently opened up about a challenging period in her life when she felt like “her light had dimmed.” This heartfelt revelation comes shortly after the 49-year-old actress officially concluded an 8-year legal battle to finalize her divorce from Brad Pitt.
Rediscovering Artistic Passion
“As an artist, you go through various stages in life. Sometimes, you question whether a part of yourself has closed off. You wonder if your light still shines, if there’s anything left to give, or if you even truly understand yourself anymore,” Jolie shared.
She continued, “This role has pushed me to rediscover aspects of myself I had never explored before. Being forced out of my comfort zone at this stage in life, doing something that scares me and makes me unsure if I can succeed – that’s the greatest gift an artist can receive.”
A New Challenge with Maria Callas
Earlier, on the red carpet of the 2025 Golden Globe Awards at Beverly Hilton, Los Angeles, Angelina described her role as Maria Callas as a significant career challenge.
“The fear of not doing justice to Maria Callas and disappointing those who admire her was very real for me. But it’s this very fear that makes life so exciting. We live to face what makes us uneasy, to let our hearts race, and to test ourselves in ways we never imagined,” Jolie admitted.
She emphasized, “This is the decade where I will focus on doing things that scare me.“
Proud of Her Children’s Growth
Angelina, the mother of six children – Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (19), Shiloh (18), and twins Vivienne and Knox (16) – expressed immense pride in their growth and achievements.
“I feel so lucky to have such intelligent, strong, and independent individuals in my home. I love watching them grow each day,” she said.
Closing an 8-Year Legal Battle
After years of legal disputes, Angelina has finally reached a settlement in her divorce with Brad Pitt, marking the end of a chapter in her journey to heal her family.
Jolie filed for divorce in September 2016, just two years after their wedding, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The filing came shortly after a private flight where Jolie accused Pitt of abusive behavior towards her and their children. However, after investigations, no charges were filed.
The couple later issued a joint statement, pledging to protect their children’s privacy. “Both parties and their attorneys have signed agreements to safeguard the children’s and family’s privacy by keeping court documents sealed and using a private judge to handle necessary legal decisions. Both are committed to acting in ways that support their family’s healing and reconciliation,” the statement read.
