The actress revealed that she was shot in the face multiple times during a clay pigeon shooting trip in Austin, Texas on February 7, an event meant to celebrate her husband Brendan Rooney’s 42nd birthday.

Taking to Instagram on February 8, Romano shared details of the harrowing experience along with a video showing visible injuries to her right eye and forehead. The former Disney Channel star explained that another party at the shooting range fired in the wrong direction, striking her in multiple areas.

“There was another party with us, and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face,” Romano wrote. “I was hit in five places, one less than an inch from hitting me directly in my right eye.”

Romano credited her husband for his quick response, noting that he immediately assessed her injuries and rushed her to the hospital. Doctors discovered that a bullet fragment was lodged behind her eye, making surgical removal too risky at this time.
