Adam Brody Steals the Spotlight at 2025 Critics Choice Awards with Heartfelt Speech

Adam Brody has once again captured hearts, not just with his stellar acting but with his touching tribute to his wife, Leighton Meester, during the 2025 Critics Choice Awards. The Nobody Wants This star took home the award for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Rabbi Noah Roklov in the hit Netflix series.

Adam Brody’s Big Win at the Critics Choice Awards

The 2025 Critics Choice Awards, hosted by Chelsea Handler on February 7, saw Adam Brody clinch the Best Actor in a Comedy Series award, triumphing over big names like Brian Jordan Alvarez (English Teacher), David Alan Grier (St. Denis Medical), Steve Martin and Martin Short (Only Murders in The Building), and Kayvan Novak (What We Do in the Shadows).

As he took the stage at Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, the 45-year-old actor didn’t hold back on gratitude, starting with a heartfelt shoutout to his wife, Leighton Meester.

“My darling, darling, darling wife Leighton,” Adam said emotionally, “thank you for sharing this life with me and this journey with me. Thank you for our family. I love you with all my heart.”

The couple, married for over a decade, share two children—daughter Arlo, 9, and a 4-year-old son, whose name remains private.

A Shoutout to Co-Star Kristen Bell & Exciting Season 2 News

Brody didn’t stop there—he also acknowledged his Netflix series co-star Kristen Bell, along with the show’s creator Erin Foster.

“We had the immense pleasure of filming this in Los Angeles,” he shared. “Can’t wait to run it back with you guys in a few weeks.”

Adding a special note for Kristen, Adam said, “Thank you for your talent. Thank you for your kindness. Thank you for your belief in me. This is a Hanukkah present for you.”

Why Adam Brody Was Drawn to Nobody Wants This

Since the 2024 release of Nobody Wants This, Adam has spoken openly about why he was so eager to take on the unconventional role of Rabbi Noah, who embarks on a romantic journey with an agnostic podcast host played by Kristen Bell.

“I wanted it. I only got the first episode of the script, but I thought it was charming, and a fun role that felt both comfortable and a familiar, fun place to play,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024. “At the same time, the character being a rabbi meant that it had this whole other side to it. I had a lot to learn and study so that I could do an actorly thing with it.”

Adam Brody on Choosing Roles at This Stage in His Career

The O.C. alum also reflected on how he approaches roles now, admitting that he’s more selective.

“Any professional should be opinionated about what they do, but I think I’m much more pragmatic in terms of what I choose,” he explained. “I don’t consider myself incredibly picky. I understand the reality of going to work and I enjoy work. There’s not much of a strong correlation between the quality of a project and the joy I have making it. It has a lot more to do with the personalities involved.”

With his 2025 Critics Choice Award win, Adam Brody continues to prove he’s a force to be reckoned with in comedy television—and that his love for Leighton Meester is stronger than ever.
