Tyler, The Creator Shuts Down Rumors About Super Bowl Appearance With Kendrick Lamar
Speculation has been swirling about Tyler, The Creator making a surprise appearance during Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show, but the rapper has now put those rumors to rest.
The buzz started after the release of a Super Bowl halftime show trailer, which will take place on February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans. Fans pointed out what they believed were subtle clues hinting at Tyler’s involvement, such as references to the military aesthetic seen in his Chromakopia album and his recent remix of “Hey Now.”
Adding fuel to the fire, Tyler himself left a cryptic comment on Kendrick Lamar’s Instagram post promoting the event. However, fans hoping for a Kendrick-Tyler collaboration on the Super Bowl stage will be disappointed.
Tyler, The Creator Responds to Super Bowl Speculation
Addressing the rumors directly, Tyler responded to the speculation in an Instagram comment on January 31, making it clear that he won’t be joining Kendrick at the big game.
“N-gga, I’m on tour. I will not be at [a] football game. Y’all better watch Kenny.”
Tyler’s comment refers to his Chromakopia World Tour, which kicks off on February 4 in St. Paul, MN and runs through September 2025.
Although he has a day off on Super Bowl Sunday, the event is wedged between his performances in Kansas City, MO (February 8) and Denver, CO (February 11), making a surprise appearance unlikely.
Who Will Be Joining Kendrick Lamar at the Super Bowl?
While Tyler, The Creator won’t be making an appearance, at least one special guest has already been confirmed: SZA.
In the Super Bowl teaser trailer, SZA makes a cameo, playfully dumping Gatorade on Kendrick Lamar as he discusses potential guests for his performance. This has led fans to believe she may be part of the highly anticipated halftime show lineup.
Another potential surprise could be Kendrick’s fellow Black Hippy members—Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. Ab-Soul recently posted an emotional yet cryptic message on social media, hinting at something big:
“LISTEN… I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A FT FROM FREE… SMFH. I JUST SHED A TEAR. DEAD HOMIES. SUPER BOWL LIX. HISTORY!!! @pgLang x @TopDawgEnt.”
Kendrick Lamar’s Historic Super Bowl Moment
Kendrick Lamar has yet to publicly comment on his Super Bowl LIX halftime performance, but the show marks a major moment in his career. Coming off his record-breaking success with “Not Like Us”, his dominance in last year’s rap beef with Drake, and his latest chart-topping album GNX, fans are eager to see what he has planned.
Whether he brings out SZA, Black Hippy, or more surprise guests, one thing is certain—Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show is set to be one for the history books.
