What Do Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Have Left After Their Divorce?
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have finally resolved part of their long-standing divorce battle, one of the most drawn-out separations in Hollywood history. While disputes over the Château Miraval estate remain unresolved, the Mr. & Mrs. Smith stars have essentially cut ties with each other.
Resolve Part of Their Lengthy Divorce Dispute
The Hollywood duo signed a prenuptial agreement before their marriage. Although the specifics of the agreement were not disclosed, it is likely that each retained assets accumulated prior to the marriage, while jointly acquired assets were divided equally.
Cristina Previte, a representative from WOLF Esquires LLC, explained, “Prenuptial agreements typically stipulate that what belongs to one party before the marriage remains theirs, while any jointly acquired assets during the marriage are split evenly.”
Division of Assets
Following their split, Angelina and Brad began dividing their shared assets. Their first move was selling a house in the French Quarter neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana, for $4.9 million. The property was purchased together in 2007 for $3.5 million.
The most notable asset is the Château Miraval estate in France, including a vineyard valued at $60 million when purchased in 2008. With Brad Pitt’s investments, the estate’s value increased to $164 million.
In 2021, Angelina Jolie sold her 50% stake in the winery to the Russian conglomerate Stoli, netting $62 million. This move prompted a lawsuit from Brad Pitt, which has since dragged on as neither side has reached an agreement.
Other Shared Assets
The two By the Sea co-stars are also reported to have co-owned a $323 million superyacht purchased in 2014. However, details regarding the yacht’s current status remain unclear.
Court documents from 2018 revealed that during their custody battle, Brad Pitt paid at least $9 million in child support to Angelina Jolie. Additionally, he loaned her $8 million to purchase a home and covered more than $1.3 million in expenses billed under her name as of August 2018. It is unknown how much more Brad has contributed to Angelina since then.
